FLORENCE KUEK

Adventurous and fiercely independent, Florence has survived -30 deg winters. A ballerina to the core, reversés and fouettés (invite her to perform for you!) are some of her favourite steps. Butter her up (shhhh...) with dark chocolates and Kopi O Kosong anytime!

Do you prefer ballet or other styles of dance?

I prefer ballet and contemporary but also appreciate all other forms as well.

What are you currently watching on Netflix (or TV)?

I rarely watch TV/Netflix as I prefer to watch documentaries, animal videos and of course more ballet!

Go-to karaoke song?

I don’t sing Karaoke  even though I was once in a choir.

I am pretty sporty & adventurous (survived through -30 degree winters) and enjoy solo travels.

Ballet: Giselle, Fountain of Bakchisarai, Raymonda, Scheherazade, La Bayadère, Don Quixote, Chopiniana, La Sylphide! Non-ballet: Crystal Pite’s work, Hofesh Shechter Company, Nederlands Dans Theatre.

No popular celebrity crush but ask me which ballet dancers I like ;)

Where would you go on your dream vacation?

Anywhere with beautiful nature or a rich arts culture

Something you can't live without.

Coffee(black/kosong), classical music and of course ballet.

Piece of advice for other dancers?

Listen and apply the corrections by your teachers diligently, watch more ballet, and immerse in music, history, art and poetry.
